“…One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Do not be ashamed of the fear, the worry, the anxiety. Do not feel that your heartbreak over what is happening is misplaced, or wrong, or out of line. These promptings are voices from your inner compass, the gyro that keeps you stable, the inalienable center that is YOU. These feelings of injustice and outrage against the seeming shamelessness of those who engage in the fearsome practice of eating from the table of our sisters and brothers, of our children. These inner promptings are invaluable, and the seed of power. They will carry you far, if you will have courage in your thoughts about how to respond.
I would encourage you to lean in, see what the most insistent fear is for you right now. Listen to this turmoil in your heart – not to be overwhelmed or swept away, but to lean into the most bright spaces of fire. Look calmly, take time to listen, then experiment with the idea of putting yourself at it’s service. Give some time to hear and understand the message. Find your unique way to answer the prompting at the center of your fear.
Find a bucket, a basket for this and begin to carry it with you, A gesture, a word, a poem. A walk around the block. Use any way that occurs to you spontaneously to begin to move with it. You are finding your personal way to answer the call that is hammering away within.
Attend to the places where it seems your fear becomes lessened, where you feel it brighten and the flame steadies in peace. Those are the forks in the road, the little outcroppings where you can set up camp. Unexpected treasure caves may be revealed, for you to discover work to be done to liberate this energy into purpose. When you do, a gesture of power will come to you. This gesture will begin the process of moving your energy to the best direction for you to do the most good.
Don’t get hung up – there is time, although not too much of it to be sure, so begin moving. By leaning into what the energy is telling you, and moving with it, you become a container for the force that will serve to free us all. The energies are shaking you, perhaps because you have the exact convergence of powers and loves to respond. It’ll be bumpy at first. But you will gain precision and finesse as you move along with it. I would love to hear what you are doing to help keep this world, as Keats would say, “a vale of soul making.”

“I build a lighted House, and therein Dwell.”
The June Solstice is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and marks the entrance of the sun into the tropical sign of Cancer. This sign is about finding a home for our deepest self. I have found affirmation and art to be key in bringing the soul’s longings to full beauty and fruition.
I live in Minneapolis, and the city got a total of 15.5 inches of snow yesterday.
Yes, I know it’s April. This is actually the *second largest accumulation for an April. We are hardcore up here in the tundra!
Gonna be chilling at the house today, since I can’t make it out of my street, so I thought I’d make the the best of it by writing and listening to music. Found a beauty in Low Light Mixes latest show on Mixcloud.

Greetings all! As one of my goals going forward, I want to more fully inhabit this blogspace I’ve created. So, I’ve re-committed to regular posting and taking more risks in putting my words and images out there in the world.
Out of this desire came the name change for this space – an identity in keeping with a more lyrical and hermetic focus, devoted to walking toward the revelation that humans are more creative than they imagine.
The world is made of stories. This space will be one way of putting forth a contribution to that weaving.
So, I was going through my journal, and I came across this wonderful prose I had copied from Deborah Castellano’s blog post of October 14, 2012 on Charmed Finishing School. There were good things about Saturn’s travel through Libra that I remember, but were put on a back burner/buried under a pile of feelings that were churned up while mourning the death of family members. The last two years, I have been undergoing a ruthless personal confrontation with the ideal of family and the abject reality of my own family of origin while he made his trip through Scorpio.
If you’re a desperate wanting thing full of dreams and aspirations, you have to stop caring about what others want you to care about. If you’re full of art. If you’re full of love. If you’re full of desire. If you’re full of faith. If you’re full of magic. You have to be willing to lose everything, to be stripped bare. To pit yourself against Zeus for your daughter, letting the world burn around you. You have to be charming, brave and fierce against demons. Now is the time, now is the hour. Ours is the magic, ours is the power.
Isn’t that beautiful? I love that, especially the invocation at the end…
I’m trying to get back to making real the inspiration of that time, when I did so much photography, and began really looking at how to do some art, to leave a body of work behind.
Let your Muse light your soul on fire.
Be true to your art.
Thanks Deborah. This is so powerful. Wish me luck.
